An alternative to liposuction The conventional way to eliminate fat deposits—due to its great effectiveness and less invasiveness—is laser-assisted liposculpture (lipolaser or laserlipolysis). It is a treatment that is carried out by introducing an optical fiber (laser) of very small diameter that transmits energy and allows fat to be liquefied quickly and gently. This laser energy is responsible for the removal of fat cells (which are then aspirated conventionally) and the retraction of the skin.
Laser-assisted liposculpture is ideal for patients who want a gentle intervention, without the need for hospital admission and with a much faster postoperative recovery. Most patients can lead a relatively normal life the next day.
This treatment is one of the most requested and can be performed on different areas: from cheeks, neck, arms, abdomen and flanks to areas such as buttocks, hips, thighs, knees and ankles.
THINGS YOU HAVE TO KNOW
1. Through the liposculpture Certain body shapes are molded that cannot be corrected through diets. Although diets and exercise are recommended as lifestyle habits, liposuction goes further and eliminates those small areas of fat that these habits cannot eliminate.
2. This type of intervention can be performed using local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure with a gentler postoperative period for the patient: drastic reduction of bruising, inflammation and sensation of pain. Sometimes it can be with sedation or even general anesthesia, if necessary.
3. It is essential that the specialist carry out a previous study of the patient to determine what treatment is appropriate, as well as a health examination.
4. The incisions made depend on the areas in which this procedure is performed. The size of these is usually 5 mm, enough space for the intervention to be carried out correctly.
5. The duration of the intervention depends on the areas you want to treat. From the smallest areas - which can last half an hour— even larger areas that require more time.
6. The posterior scars are very discreet or practically invisible since the incisions are minimal.
