What is breast reduction?
The breast reduction or mammoplasty It is a surgical procedure to reduce the size of the breasts. In this intervention, the size of the breasts is reduced by removing excess breast tissue, fat and skin. In addition, the areola and nipple are repositioned and if desired the size of the areola can also be reduced.
What does the surgery consist of?
In this intervention breast size is reduced. To do this, an extription of excess breast tissue as well as fat and skin is performed. Once this extraction has been carried out, the areola and nipple are replaced in their corresponding place.

What type of anesthesia is used?

The type of anesthesia usually used in reduction is general anesthesia, although each case must always be studied.
The patient must spend the night before hospitalized but this admission will never exceed 24 hours.
The duration of the intervention varies from two to four hours.
Am I the ideal patient?
The ideal patient is a patient who is not satisfied with the size of his or her chest or who suffers pain due to it.
It is recommended that the patient who decides to perform this intervention be a patient whose chest is fully developed, although the specific case would be studied if this is not the case. Likewise, it is not recommended that women who intend to breastfeed after pregnancy undergo a reduction.
It is advisable to perform a mammogram before the intervention and another afterward to avoid future problems with breast pathologies.
What is the scar and the results like?
There are several types of techniques and according to them we can differentiate one scar or another. The main scar has a horizontal component in the inframammary fold. Over time, the scars end up being simple white stripes that do not bother patients. However, it should be noted that there is a laser thermal application treatment to optimize the quality of the resulting scars.
It is an intervention that has a very noble postoperative period and, compared to other operations, it is the least bothersome for the patient.
