THE SOUL OF BERIK
Dr. Weigand has selflessly participated in charitable causes such as that of the young man Berik Syzdikov. Berik was the protagonist of a report titled 'Children of an atomic war'. The report, which was produced and broadcast by the TVE program On the front page, was especially striking because of the story of this young man deformed by cancerous lumps surely caused by the nuclear tests carried out by the former Soviet Union.
TVE He wanted his relationship with Berik not to remain the mere protagonist of a report, so he allocated part of the money he had raised thanks to the awards the report received to finance an operation for Berik in Madrid.
The process to give Berik a slightly better life was long and complex, and could only be completed thanks to the selfless collaboration of the surgeon Christian Weigand, the Ruber clinic, Messengers of Peace and the embassy of Kazakhstan in Spain. This process, which recounts the time the young man spent in Spain, gave rise to a new report, 'The soul of Berik', also produced by the TVE network.
